Korea Nepal Polytechnic Institute (KNPI) was established in Butwal Sub-metropolitan City as a high-tech technical institute. The foundation stone was laid by the then R. honorable prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on 15th Magh, 2066 BS (January 29, 2010).
It was inaugurated by then R. honorable president Rambaran Yadav on 6th Shrawan, 2069 BS (July 21, 2012). It was established under the mutual co-operation of Government of Nepal and Republic of Korea (RoK) in 2010 AD.
At the time of establishment, it was named as Korea Nepal Institute of Technology (KNIT). Later on, it was renamed (14th April 2021, Wednesday) as [कोरिया नेपाल बहुप्राविधिक शिक्षालय] Korea Nepal Polytechnic Institute (KNPI) according to the 183rd Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) meeting, dated 2077/07/26, decision number 1084. The grant donation was provided by Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) under the government of Republic of Korea. KNPI is a government constituent institute under Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), constituted in 1989 (2045 BS) is a national autonomous apex body of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector committed for the production of technical and skillful human resources required to the nation. KNPI started diploma in engineering programs as its regular program since FY 2069/2070.
